What the site collects
Four forms send data from this site. The first is the “Make yourself known” form. It collects:
- your country, region and city of residence;
- your full name;
- your email address;
- how you would like to be involved;
- the fact that you used the English form, so that you can be answered in English.
This data is sent to Nova, the movement's platform (nova.adcidiaspora.org), where the officers responsible for your area read it: the section for your region where there is one, the coordination for your country, your zone's National Secretariat and the Cabinet. That is what the region is for: it points to the officers closest to you. Your details are never published, and the site shows no count of the submissions received.
The second is the newsletter form, at the bottom of each page and on the home page. It sends only your email address, to Nova, which has a confirmation email sent to you; you are subscribed only once you click the link in that email.
The third is “Offer my skills”. It collects your name, your email address, your country and region, the field and profession you state, your availability and whatever you write in a few words. It goes to the same officers as your details: those for your region and your country.
The fourth is the press room form: your organisation, your email address if you give one, the subject, the deadline and your request. It collects no location data, and only the Cabinet reads it.
Backing a current campaign is a separate step, and its form asks for three things only: your country, your first name and your email address. Your address is kept in plain text, so that the officers for your country can write to you about that campaign; no named list of backers is published, and the site shows only the number. You can ask for yours to be removed at any time.
The search box in the header works in your browser: what you type is sent to no one.
The movement's videos, on the home page and the News page, play in YouTube's player, in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). The player loads as the video comes into view; like any content from another site, it then receives the technical connection data from your browser. Playing a video is governed by YouTube's (Google's) rules.
Like any host, Vercel processes technical connection data — IP address, page requested, date and time — to deliver pages and protect the service. The site itself makes no use of it.
Why
So that the Diaspora network can reply to you and welcome you: invite you to complete your membership on Nova, write to you, or keep you informed of the movement's activities, as you asked; and, if you subscribed, send you the newsletter. Your data is used for nothing else.
Who reads it
- the communications officers of the section for your region and of the coordination for your country, whose task it is to reply to you;
- the National Secretariat in charge of the Diaspora for the zone of your country of residence;
- the Vice-Presidency in charge of the Diaspora and its Cabinet, which oversee the network, and Nova's technical administration;
- the providers that run the site and Nova, strictly within their service: Vercel (hosting of the site), Supabase (Nova's database) and Brevo (sending Nova's emails, including the newsletter).
It is not shared with any other third party.
For how long
Details sent through “Make yourself known” and not followed up are kept for twelve months, then deleted. This gives your zone's National Secretariat time to get back to you, including in a country where the movement is getting established. If you complete your membership on Nova, your details are removed from that list before then: you become a member, and the movement's rules apply.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to access the data concerning you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to stop receiving our messages, including the newsletter. Write to the Cabinet: cabinet@adcidiaspora.org, preferably from the address you gave us, so that we can recognise you.
Cookies and trackers
The site loads no tracker without your consent. On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept Meta's pixel (Facebook, Instagram). Until you answer, and if you refuse,nothing is sent to Meta: the script is not even downloaded. Refusing takes nothing away from the site, which works exactly the same.
If you accept, the site tells Meta which pages you open on adcidiaspora.org. Meta matches those visits with your Facebook or Instagram account, if you have one, which lets us measure what our campaigns bring to the Movement. We send it neither your name, nor your email address, nor the contents of any form.
Your choice is kept on your device for six months, after which you are asked again. You may change it at any time:
Apart from this pixel, the site sets no cookies and loads no analytics tool, no social media plug-in and no font hosted elsewhere. Its only other third-party service is YouTube's player for the videos, in privacy-enhanced mode (see above). Your browser keeps strictly necessary technical data, such as its cache, and remembers on your device whether you prefer the globe or the flat map, along with your answer to the banner.
Nova (nova.adcidiaspora.org), where membership and the members' area are handled, is a separate application: it sets the cookies needed to sign in to your account.
